Hi, I’m Frankie Bowden

I am a Devonian living here in Bath with my husband Tom and daughters Florrie and Ottilie. Happiest in the water, I adore swimming and love nothing more than being near a pool, sea, river…the list goes on! I have never been a competitive swimmer but have completed a 7.5k charity swim and would one day love to do the Dart 10k and dare I say it, the Great North Swim or English Channel! Having recently left my role as a Primary School Teacher, I am now super excited to join Jen and the Angelfish Team for my next adventure.
Get to know Frankie, a Q&A…
What is the best thing about being a swimming teacher?
I think it would have to be getting to work alongside Jen, and seeing my swimmers find a real joy from being in the water.
What sports person do you most admire and why?
I am certainly no sporting expert and while he may not be classed as a sports person, I would choose Ben Fogle. He has climbed Everest and sailed the Atlantic, breaking through some incredible barriers. Also, having recently completed a beginners sailing course, I can really appreciate the complexity of sailing.
Do you have any hobbies or play any sports other than swimming?
I have recently started dabbling in a little bit of running again after a very long time away and have joined a beginners running club. I also have a deep love for writing and have one published children’s book and another sat on my laptop waiting for the right moment.
Do you have any hidden talents or funny party tricks?
Fairly boring but Tom always tells me I have an amazing capacity at remembering dates and strange small details. No weird and wonderful talents I am afraid!
Where would you most like to visit in the world and why?
There are many places on my list, but Costa Rica is at the top. I have a real fascination for rainforests having visited the Amazon briefly and would love to get involved in some turtle conservation with Tom and our two little ladies, Florrie and Ottilie.
What is your favourite food?
The impossible question! Depends on the day but maybe seafood linguine, proper Italian pizza or steak and chips!
Do you prefer dogs or cats?
Dogs! We always had dogs growing up and they were, and are, the perfect companions. We hope to add a little pooch to our family one day.
